Do you think thet Queen Elizabeth would have had the same influence and image in her nation if she have got married?
If she had married, she had not had the same influence, because all eyes would be on her husband, the King, had also lost its image of virginity and purity, ceasing to be the "Mother of England". Clearly not had that significance throughout history and perhaps the Empire had not arisen in the same way.

Question: Elizabeth, the Golden Age
What is in your opinion, the message or vision that the director of the movie wanted to show us about the battle between Spain and England?
In my opinion, the director wanted to emphasize the success of England over Spain as the main reason of "The Golden Age" in her reign, and he shows the glory that England took after to win the battle, even if their force was less than Spain's force.
Do you think that Queen Elizabeth would have had the same influence and image in her nation if she had got married?
In my opinion, if she had got married , her husband, the King, would have occupied her place and she would have lost all the power.
If this had happened she would not be known worldwide. She would not be an icon of British history, would not be the Queen that
transformed England into an empire. She would be just the King's wife.

Do you
believe that the Queen Elizabeth had had the same influence, power and the same
image if she had married?
Personally
I believe that not, because she would be displaced by the king sooner or later
if she had got married. Any moment she would lose her attributes and
advantages: she would stop being an icon in the history of her country as also
in the world history, she would stop being a virgin: condition of admiration,
respect and controversy. She would stop being influential in the decisions and
it doesn´t matter the personality that she had, she would not be taken in
counts totally.
Elizabeth: the golden age
Why do you think that the director (who is from India, former colony of England) shows the England Empire as the greatest and most powerfull one?
In my opinion, that shows the effects of Englands power in their former colonies, how in some way they imposed their life style, education, political systems and ways of seeing life. But in our times, this is a little bit strange, because most of the former colonies want to dissociate from their ex empires, due to all they had lost in those times.

Was that strong and independent woman image a real part of her personality? Or it was a kind of masquerade for people to respect her?
Real authority
Did Queen Elizabeth really have the power or was she manipulated by her counsellors?
During our discussion in groups we talked about what was the real influenced that Elizabeth had over the decision making while governing England. Would it be different if there was a man as a monarch?Personally I think that she didn't have much to say when deciding. She was a very smart and strong woman, and and that's really well shown in the movie. But her counsellors´ opinions were over hers during difficult times.
Another important thing is, what was driving Elizabeth's decision making. for example Anne´s death. she didn't want to get involve, because that would mean that monarchs weren't as untouchable as they seemed.
How would the development of the movie have been if it was from Spain's point of view? How much of the story would have changed and what message would this view send?
To summarize what we discussed in our groups, along with our own personal opinion, we found it obvious that if the movie had been made from Spain's point of few then the whole story would have changed.
Spain would be the protagonist while England would be the antagonist. Elizabeth might be viewed as an evil woman fighting against the will of god and all that is holy while Spain could be viewed as the savior of Christianity and defender of the holy church and what not.
There would be a drastic turn of events that in the end would probably transmit us the opposite idea or message then what we received while watching the movie (England being sided by god himself, Elizabeth seen as someone who is divine and with grace, etc.).
To finish, we concluded that not matter if it's a historical movie or a documentary, history can be (and at times is) very subjective. History is told from someones point of view. That someone has his/her own upbringing, opinion, values, way of thinking, experiences, and so on. All these aspects influence the persons judgment in the moment they are writing history.
That is why we need to learn to be critical when receiving information. We can go even further by not just being critical with the information we have received, but to continue investigating and gathering info from different sources with varied opinions so as to formulate your own.
