American Idiot - Green Day

1.- Who created this message?

This message was created by the rock band "Green Day".

2.- What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

First, the music style it's very attractive (punk rock); also there's an interesting use of language (it's rude, and agressive), and the whole message of the song (lyrics) it's pretty seductive.

3.- How might different people understand this message differently?

For the american people (USA), could be interpreted as a sort of critic to the society, the  media market, and the influences of it in people's life, attacking also the government, and the management of the country.
Maybe for others it could be just a message of rebelion against the system, and a critic for those who are involved in it, and do nothing to change it.

4.- What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

In the song we can't see any value, and that's why it's so attractive, as I said before, it's a agressive song. However, we can see a very critical point of view, marked by an ironic style, and a very rude way of expression.

5.- Why is this message being sent?

Beacause the idea is to meditate on the song's lyrics, understand the meaning of it, and try to avoid become one of those that the song described as an "american idiot". It's focused on the society and the awareness of this.

  1. in my opinion american idiot was not made in order to criticize the american country or government, i think that they sell as an image of being rebellious and against the system but the truth is that they are from my point of view very comercial.
