Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) - Pink Floyd

♪When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers who would
Hurt the children any way they could
By pouring their derision
Upon anything we did
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids
But in the town it was well known
When they got home at night, their fat and
Psycopathic wives would thrash them
Within inches of their lives.♪
♪We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teacher leave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall♪

First, he features himself and his classmates like convicts marching in a prison, totally repressed under strict orders and punishments. Finally they destroy their desks, and school, burning it.

This message was created by katy Perry, a pop-rock singer from California. This song belongs to her album “Teenage Dream". She is my favourite artist, and this is my favourite song ever.

2-What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

The idea expressed in the video through the lyrics and the performance are attractive, because the concept proposed, to “ ignite a light inside of each person” what represent the prettiest  things of everyone, the most beautifull feelings and skills of everybody, to be happy and then, let it know to everybody like, A FIREWORK, that goes out from you, it’s amazing. In my opinion it’s energizing , revitalizing and very attractive.

3-How might different people understand this message differently ?

"I think most of the people can understand the message in a same way, as a way to feel good with yourself. it doesn't matter the way you are, it seems to me not too complex, because the message it’s clear, “ come on , you’re the best, just the way you are” ,

4- What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

In this video we can clearly  identify a lot of stereotypes, and many problems in the society, related to the repression against the homosexual people, or the canons of beauty , but mainly with self esteem problems, this song invites us to live happily with ourselves.

5-Why is this message being sent?

Because Mss Perry said in many opportunities that this is her favourite song, and that it contains the message that she wants to give to the world. It’s her way of thinking.

In first place, the lyrics are so powerful and special: It speaks about real-life histories, its obstacles and what it is necessary to learn and make us think about our action. Second, the music: is nice and in the video it totally combines with funny situations and lyrics.

3.-How might different people understand this message differently?
The message is clear if you listen all the song: in every step that you give, life teach you something important and you learn how to enjoy and do everything that you never dared to do because in the future there will be no time. the lyric say it: "I recommend you walking around naked in your living room" or "you cry you learn, you lose you learn"

The people feel limited and do not live fully. Anything that we do, we are criticized. This is a clear message to say "stop!" and be free.

Adele - One and Only

Adele One and Only

Who created this message?
Adele co-created with Greg Wells. Adele is a English singer-songwriter, winner of 3 Brit Awards and 8 Grammy Awards. She is known because of her heart-wrenching songs, really nice voice, and the soul sound her songs have.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
Well, first of all, it is her voice. She sings in a very distinctive tone. Second, the lyrics of her songs, they have so much intensity, they get to your heart. The third thing is the music, everything sounds just perfectly. I really like this video because it is a live performance and there´s nothing better to judge someone´s voice.

How might different people understant this message differently?
The lyrics of this song are about trying to “buck up” the courage to tell someone that you’ve loved for ages that you want to be with him. I think that many girls and boys have been in that position. Maybe you have a friend, and you really like him or her, but you don´t want to ruin the friendship because you don´t know if he/she feels the same towards you. But you also have the situation when you know that the person likes you and you like him/her back, but no one dares to say a thing because you are afraid of what may happen in the future, and the opportunity goes by, and it won´t come back.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted form, this message?
This song invites us to be open with our feelings, we can´t let love go by, we need to have courage and speak out.. We may suffer, we may fall, bump our heads against the wall, but we will always learn and move on. We can´t expect that everything will be perfect, but we will never know, if we never try. We have to fight for someone if there is love between us.

Why this message being sent?
We have to fight for love. We are scared of getting hurt and we don´t jump of the cliff, so we have to dare and just do it. We have to be strong and rely on the people that surround us, they also love us

I want to break free - Queen

·          Who create this message?
This song was created by the band British Queen and was released in 1984.
·         What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
First of all, the video is very funny and enjoyable, so it's not hard to watch, and also shows between lines the darkness of life, the serious part of human personalities and the good side, the tolerant and respectful side.
·         How might different people understand this message differently?
The song is a love song, but we can interpret it as more than that. When they said “I want to break free”, it's not only about a relationship, it's about choosing what I want, what I need in every aspect of life. I’m free to be whatever I want to be, to think, act, love and live as I wish and no one can tell me what I have to do.
·         What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?
The values that are represented here are tolerance and respect to people just like you, no matter if they have a different sexual option, religion, race, culture, so on. It shows a more open style of life not such a conservative one, but also shows the two sides of human nature, the one who does not accept people as the way they are, the most serious and conflictive part and the lovely and peaceful one.
·         Why is the message being sent?
We have to be free; we need to stop being a close minded and start to live. Leave behind all the things that stop ourselves to be happier.
We need to be free of money, consumerism, job, credit cards, clothes and star to break walls and make us one.

TRUE TO MYSELF  - Ziggy Marley

1) Who created this message?

This song was created by Ziggy Marley, one of the sons of Bob Marley.

2) What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

I love the rhythm of this song, it is a mix between happiness and peace. It's not the typical reagge, this song has some sounds of rock. In my opinion it's a really perfect blend of music. Also talk about the stereotypes of people, so to Ziggy the most important thing is to be ok with ourselves, we don't have to lie to feel good. We are just the way  we are.

3) How might different people understand this message differently?

The message of the song is actually very simple, we have to be true with ourselves. This is the message that people might understand, a way to be sincere with us and the rest of  the people.

4) What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

The values that you can see in the lyrics of this song are basically the sincerity and the honesty. We cannot live in a world of lies, thus the author of the song wants to contribute to a better world.

5)Why this message being sent?

This message was sent to the humanity because we should realise that the truth is not something bad, we just have to know how to say it . With the truth we can find the freedom.

P!nk - F**kin' Perfect

Who created this message?
The song belongs to singer-songwriter Pink. It was written by Mas Martin, Shellback and her. The song was released on December 14, 2010.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
The video has a sort of in-your-face approach, having graphic depictions of  sex and bloody scenarios of cutting and suicide. I myself cringed at certain points. The lyrics plus the video where meant to shock and open peoples eyes.

How might different people understand this message differently?
In my opinion, it all depends on the person. To some it will be a growing awareness to problems such as cutting, suicide, alienation and depression. To others who are going through such problems and need help, the video can be seen as a message that even though times are tough things can and will get better. Everyone can find their own message and understanding in the lyrics/video.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?
The video is set in the point of view of a girl who suffers from being alienated and depression. It shows how small things like being misunderstood are bullied can start to shape you into this troubled person. It invites us to take a stand and help those who need it. We should accept people with open arms. Pink pointed out "You can't move mountains by whispering at them".

Why is this message being sent?

We live in both a cruel and beautiful world. People are discriminated and shunned by just being themselves. There are so many people who cut to relieve their pain and commit suicide to finally end it. I think the message is being sent to try and stop this. When you see someone being mistreated for just being themselves, step in and defend them. Don't stand on the sidelines. The main goal of the video was to open peoples eyes and I think it's done just that. Why is the message being sent? To create awareness and help.

Rammstein striped

1)-Who created this message?
It was created by depeche mode on 1986 it was released in europe  only. Then  rammstein recorded a
a version on 1998. its the only song they have interely in english

2)-What creative techniques are used to atract my attencion?
Firstly the entire video is made in black and white wich gives and old effect and the tune of the song helps
to  relax and pay more atencion to the lyrics

3)-How might different people understand this message differently?
The song itself its very easy to understand its about leaving aside the citys and go back to a more natural
state where everything belongs to everyone where there is no contamination and no manipulation from the
media or the authoritys . even so some people may belive its just a love song if they focus only at the
invitacion to strippe yourself from clothes or the kiss, but it will means a very plain mind

4)-What values, lifestyles, and points of view are represented in or ommited from, this message?
the message its very edgy because stripped means to be naked or to have strips painted on something
the lyric isn´t very exuberant but its helps to send the message to have a more simple, away from citys,
and the most important a happy and plentifull life

5)- why is this message being sent?
it sent to relax, make the people think about the way they live surrounded by noise and pollution and to
     make them change a little

A strange thing 2 say

1-. Who created this message?

This message was created on 2009 by Sopor Aeternus and the ensemble of shadows, a musical proyect created on 1989.

2.- what creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

First of all, the lyrics have an enigmatic identitie, with so much symbolism on every verse. But the central topic on the song is depression, how a person with this endogenous illness have to survive with sadness, and the constant feeling that this "human friend" (suicide) has to appear in any moment.
In Second place, but not less important, is the ambient and effects that the video clip was filmed. Every piece of the video have details that makes it gloomy and in concordance with the feelings of the performer.

3.- -how might different people understand this message differently?

The message itself is confusing and received by every kinds of interpretation, the artist is never clear about the central topic of the song. S/He calls it an "Introverted Exhibitionism" (which, in fact, is what every artist do). So, by the imagery of the performer, most of the people will be distracted and will not feel the intention of the song. For other people, they might understand the lyrics like a horror movie (being friend of a serial killer...-) so, a very few persons will understand what is the most similar interpretation of the message.

4.- what values, lifestyles and points of view are represented from this message?

Well, in fact, it doesn't promote anything about values or lifestyles, but the point of view of this particular message is that whatever, wherever or whenever you are, sadness (and also death) will appear in your life, we are just mortals, after all, it's natural that our minds thinks in those reflections.

5.- why is this message being sent?

Anna-Varney Cantodea, only human member of this proyect, said wrote in his/her website:
"(...)ANNA-VARNEY's multi-layered (yet fragile) art is mainly intended as a spiritual healing-process for the wounded soul …"

why does it always rain on me

1-. Who created this message?

this message was created by travis, a brit-pop band from scotland.

2.-what creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
I would say that the most attractive thing about this song is the melody , to me was the most attractive thing about it.in addition the idea or metaphor that they used ''why does it always rain on me''.

3.-how might different people understand this message differently?
In my opinion this message is clear, you just have to infer from the title of the song ,the main idea.
why does it always rain on me, makes me think that stormy days are bad or terrible days in our life that are inevitable but being conscious that we can perform and overcome those days.

4-.what values, lifestyles and points of view are represented from this message?
It’s seems to me that this song is not promoting anything , I truly believe that the message is about hopeless and feeling desperate because things are simply not working. the song is about rainy days . the author tried to link stormy days with negative thing or bad days in our life.

5.-why is this message being sent?
I think that  despite the fact that the message is not very positive we can make an effort and conclude that despite having bad days  or stormy days  sometimes , we can overcome that difficult moments in our life.
maybe the encouraging message is hidden.

Lucky man- The Verve

Who created this message?
This song was created by an English rock band named The Verve on 1997.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
Simply the peace that inspires, it relaxes me no matter where I am, or in what mood I am. I don’t know why, but everytime that I listen to it, it makes me smile. I also love the beautiful and poetic  lyrics, which talk about happiness and love.

How might different people might understand this message differently?
I think that this has to be understood as a way of realizing that no matter how hard we search for our happiness, is right in front of us, or even inside of us.  We have to be aware that the key for what we are looking  for it isn’t in the others or in material things, but in ourselves.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or ommited from this message?
It shows us that love and happiness are both fleeting things, but that we will always find it in our minds eventually.

Why this message is being sent?
It’s being sent for the people who think that their own happiness lies on material things, on shallow things, when the truth is, we are lucky for the single fact of being alive.

Paz Allendes.

"Dust in The Wind" is the seventh song of the album "Point
of Know Return" in 1977. It was written by Kerry Livgren.
I really like the rythm of the song and the sound of the guitar makes me relax.
Kerry's voice is awesome and also he sings slowly so I can listen carefully at the lyrics.
The lyrics give us a clear message. It says that "all we are is fust in the wind".
It means in a way, that we are insignificant if we compare with the whole world and it makes us think how fragile we are.
The second message is about living the present. We have to enjoy our life because it's to short
and also try to do the best of us.
The song is trying to make us think about the way we are living. If we're not happy,
maybe this is a good opportunity to change it and to start doing things tha usually we don't do and live everyday like its your last.

Their characteristic style is of rapmetal, a fusion between hip hop, funk and heavy metal.  That’s why the band was one of the first on the international favourites successes, becoming very popular in the cossover world.

An important thing about the band’s identity is the leftist political ideology against capitalism, globalization and war that has taken the band to appear on many occasions all over the United States. Also it make join the ideology by the thoughts.

“Killing in the Name” was the first single released as the lead single from the album “Rage

This song’s lyrics reference the revolution against racism and the allegation that some members of US police forces are members of the Ku Klux Klan organization, whose symbol is the burning cross.  That caused the song to be recognized as the symbol single of the band.

People might understand this message like a way to express the anger or maybe as a critique of society and even events. But it clearly depends on the political thought.

The song make us think that we have to do something against war and all the bad things that make this a displeasing world, it also invite us to appear and manifest our “anger”.

And it also has a beautiful video that shows lots of different people in different hard situations of their lifes that probably a lot of people can feel identified. It’s like a modern anthem for everyone.

How might different people might understand this message differently?
I think the big message in the video and the song, is that we must love ourselves no matter how we are. We’re all valuable people.
The other message is that we have to enjoy life, be ourselves and don’t let other bring us down.
The other messade is that the sparkle, that firework is always inside of us and it depends on us to ignite it.

Professor's first attempt at writing a post

Dear ones,
this is just a trial. I'm checking this.
Remember this is one of the media we will use to communicate.
Greetings,
P.

Ps. I was wondering whether our definitions of culture are about the "final products" of culture or these manifestations are, indeed, traces which lead us to something, a goal, that wemay call "culture". Up to what point, if we accept that culture is dynamic and changing, we may really say that Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" or Munch's "The Scream" are culture when The Simpsons animated series or Jaidefinichon website are not.Maybe the difference is guided by how culture stops being an individual act of discovery and becomes a communal naturalized sign of shared intellectual identity.
