P!nk - F**kin' Perfect

Who created this message?
The song belongs to singer-songwriter Pink. It was written by Mas Martin, Shellback and her. The song was released on December 14, 2010.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?
The video has a sort of in-your-face approach, having graphic depictions of  sex and bloody scenarios of cutting and suicide. I myself cringed at certain points. The lyrics plus the video where meant to shock and open peoples eyes.

How might different people understand this message differently?
In my opinion, it all depends on the person. To some it will be a growing awareness to problems such as cutting, suicide, alienation and depression. To others who are going through such problems and need help, the video can be seen as a message that even though times are tough things can and will get better. Everyone can find their own message and understanding in the lyrics/video.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?
The video is set in the point of view of a girl who suffers from being alienated and depression. It shows how small things like being misunderstood are bullied can start to shape you into this troubled person. It invites us to take a stand and help those who need it. We should accept people with open arms. Pink pointed out "You can't move mountains by whispering at them".

Why is this message being sent?

We live in both a cruel and beautiful world. People are discriminated and shunned by just being themselves. There are so many people who cut to relieve their pain and commit suicide to finally end it. I think the message is being sent to try and stop this. When you see someone being mistreated for just being themselves, step in and defend them. Don't stand on the sidelines. The main goal of the video was to open peoples eyes and I think it's done just that. Why is the message being sent? To create awareness and help.

  1. Can't we also see this song as a symptom of times in which we must hurt ourselves to feel alive? In that sense the irony is that this song uses a aggressive style to criticize self-inflicted violence (at the same time, it uses the language of violence to send out a beautiful message). Nice choice. Loved the ending of the video (a little too life-affirming, but nice).

  2. people sometimes feel that they are alone, but most of the time there are not, there are a lot of people next to them who can bring support or just understand them .they just can not see , because they are blinded because of pain and suffering.
people always is going to try to hurt you in many ways, maybe they will do it unconsciously , but they will do it anyways. the idea is that we learn about these bad experence and became a better and stronger person.

great song, great singer and great lyric. :)
