Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) - Pink Floyd

♪When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers who would
Hurt the children any way they could
By pouring their derision
Upon anything we did
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids
But in the town it was well known
When they got home at night, their fat and
Psycopathic wives would thrash them
Within inches of their lives.♪
♪We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teacher leave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall♪

1.- Who created this message?

This message (song) was created by the English rock band, Pink Floyd.

2.- What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

- The song rhythm, and shouts as simbols of protest.
- Children (students) rebelling against an abusive teacher.
- The masks that every student had in their faces, to express that nobody could be better or worst in school, just that they were all under the teacher's order and his abusive discipline, and no one could have his own opinion, no one could have dreams.
- The meat-grinder (an analogy) forming raw material for the system.

3.- How might different people understand this message differently?

To understand this video, in any way, we have to go beyond and investigate the context, in this case, this video is a fragment from the movie "The Wall" (Pink Floyd, 1979). Is the story of a man, that had a disturbing formation, in school. And in the video, he makes a fantasy in his head. First, he features himself and his classmates like convicts marching in a prison, totally repressed under strict orders and punishments. Finally they destroy their desks, and school, burning it.

It is a protest song, to show and demand that nobody can control our thoughts, nobody can deny our rights to be happy, to dream.

4.- What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message?

♦  This song calls us to be consistent in the fight for our dreams, our rights.

♦  - We can see in the video, the old way of "teaching" (shouts and slaps).
    - Teachers exterminating children's "internal fire".

♦   It's the word "DARE" in a musical shape.

5.- Why is this message being sent?

- Because few people dare to fight, few people dare to be a dreamer.

- To serve as a motivational instrument to fight.
